What Blur Box is.

Blur Box is a Mac menu-bar app that places frosted-glass boxes over anything sensitive on your screen. Because the blur is on the real screen, Zoom, Loom, OBS and QuickTime all capture it. There is nothing to blur in post.

Who it’s for: SaaS founders, sales engineers, tutorial creators, and anyone who records demos.

What’s in the box.

Glue a box to a window

The box follows when you move the window underneath it.

Real blur

Adjustable blur radius, with presets from Subtle to Opaque.

Multiple boxes

Use several boxes per window, across multiple monitors.

Session restore

Your boxes come back where you left them.

Click-through and lock

Boxes stay out of your way while you work.

Global shortcuts

Add or clear boxes from the keyboard. Everything works offline.

What it doesn’t do yet.

We’d rather you know before you download.

  • Chrome tab tear-off and full-screen Spaces can drop the glue.
  • Resizing a window does not reflow a glued box.
  • For true secrets, use the Opaque preset.

In beta.

Follow the build and we will share access here when it is confirmed.

How it got built.

Why it is not on the Mac App Store

The sandbox blocks the Accessibility APIs the app needs to follow windows.

The window-tracking saga

It took many rounds to get a box that stays put when its window moves.

A 45-finding stability audit

We audited the app and found 45 possible issues. 37 held up after adversarial verification.

The first hero images were wrong

Early AI-generated stills invented glowing hologram boxes. We audited them against the real app and rebuilt them.

Questions.

How do I get the beta?

Follow the build and we will share access details here when they are confirmed.

Does the blur show up in my recording?

Yes. The blur sits on the real screen, so any recorder captures it.

Why is it not on the Mac App Store?

The sandbox blocks the Accessibility APIs the app relies on.

VybeScript. Press a key, talk, and clean text appears in any Mac app.
